Following the annual Global Business Travel Association’s 2013 Convention, which took place in San Diego in early August, routeRANK will also be present at the Association of Corporate Executive Travel’s Global Education Conference in Barcelona this October. At the GBTA Convention, routeRANK founder and Chairman Jochen Mundinger ran an Education Session on Total trip planning — The door-to-door approach to corporate travel. At ACTE’s Education Conference he will speak on Rethinking Travel Management as Total Trip Management, a presentation in the IGNITE format. Please get in touch if you would like to meet us there.

The Widget is designed for companies and organizations that want to easily integrate routeRANK functionality into their own web pages. In recent months we have significantly extended our customized Widget solution, for example with an easy-to-use GUI to generate multiple widgets for different pages or events, with the support of different sizes and styles, a return trip option as well as HTTPS support. For more information see and contact us here.

routeRANK’s customer versions in particular have benefited from a number of upgrades over the last few months. These include the integrated road routing feature which provides direct access to the relevant detailed driving directions as well as different routing options and up-to-date road warnings and notices. For example, this is available now as part of our Standard Professional version for smaller and mid-size institutions without a travel management company. Other enhancements concern the customized ranking options, train connections as well as flight filtering options.

We are proud to have been recognized once more for our achievements in travel as well as for our first steps and future plans in transport. With the Cross-over Prize in the 2013 Rail Customer Experience Competition earlier this month, the UK’s Future Railways Enabling Innovation Team rewarded routeRANK’s Integrated Rail Freight Planner as an “exceptional proposal that transferred innovations developed for another application to the rail industry”. The planner integrates rail with road, sea and air transport, computing door-to-door multi-modal shipment route options as well as proposing real-time alternatives in the case of disruption. It was back in 2008 that routeRANK came very close to winning the PICNIC Green Challenge, being one of the four finalists for the EUR 500’000 award. Although not personally present in Amsterdam that year, both Richard Branson and Bill Clinton sent their messages and congratulations via video. We recently rediscovered the former US President’s “congratulations on truly creative thinking and thanks for all the hard work” to the four finalists. Encouraging the wider audience he continues to say that “Together we can turn the tide of global warming, and create more opportunity in doing it”. A message that is still very topical, not least in the context of the final draft of the Working Group I contribution to the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report released at the end of last month. Clinton’s full quote and video link is now available here.

The Cross-over prize was announced by the EIT blog and has been picked up by Startup-ticker.ch and SHDLogistics amongst others. Smart Mobility Management covered different topics online and in their recent issue #11. For more coverage and further information, please check our press page.
